Founded in 1999, Sprague Europe is a leading provider of independent repair services for manufacturers, OEMs and third-party service contractors of enterprise hardware. With 25 years of experience providing worldwide repair services, we have developed profound expertise of in-depth board repair and micro-mechanical repair. Board Repair

Enterprise equipment often includes highly complex, multi-layer, intelligent motherboards and PCBAs in order to process and connect with the user’s environment. This equipment is designed to tolerate constantly variable operations and conditions while installed, but eventually all components will break.

At Sprague Europe, we are specialised in the reverse engineering of the test process to identify the root cause of board problems, even in the absence of schematics or a Bill of Materials (BOM). Once the root cause has been identified, our purchase department is dedicated to source the End of Life (EoL) components needed to repair any issues.

Using dedicated tools, techniques, and strict quality control processes, our IPC-certified team members perform component-level repairs on the boards.

Micro-Mechanical Repair

Hardware that includes micro-mechanical and micro-electromechanical components and sub-assemblies requires a high level of reverse product engineering in order to be recovered to meet the original specification and characteristics.

Since our founding our core-business has been the repair of tape drives. Repairing the tape read/write heads has always been the biggest challenge and focus. With every generation, these sub-assemblies become more precise, smaller, and more sensitive, forcing us to physically align components in micron precision and solder with wires that less than a quarter of the thickness of a human hair.

These sub assemblies are often not available post-manufacturing. We are therefore dedicated to reverse engineering the manufacturing processes and materials at the deepest levels. This approach provides valuable insights, innovative techniques, and new processes that can be applicable for new markets.

Tape Drives

We started in 1999 with the repair of DLT tape drives for third party maintenance companies, and have succeeded in repairing every subsequent generation, all the way up to LTO-9, for OEMs worldwide. This progress and innovation is something that we will be taking into the future.

By making use of our micro-mechanical expertise we are positioning ourselves as a truly independent service provider for out-of-warranty products for OEM and Third-Party maintenance contractors everywhere. This way we can ensure independence from manufacturers for availability, as well as keeping the contract cost and waste down.

Tape Libraries

Data stored on tapes is often physically managed by robotic assemblies within an enclosure. Although all components are designed to be as strong and lightweight as possible, the constant need to stay online, combined with the forces of movement and other external factors, causes parts to wear down over time and eventually break.

Our team then steps in to use their micro-mechanical and board repair skills in order to repair these tape libraries and robotics.

Storage controllers

Data not stored on tapes is most commonly stored on Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) or Solid-State Drives (SSDs). In the enterprise environment this is scaled and requires precise control over the individual storage locations.

All data-carrying devices within our facility are processed in the secured area. In addition to that we provide custom services regarding data wiping and recertification of HDDs, SSDs and tapes.

Network Switches

As part of our drive to constantly expand and improve our services, in 2017 we initiated the repair of network switches in EMEA. With worldwide recognition from both OEM and as manufacturer, we provide in-depth board repair services for enterprise network switches. Our state-of-the-art testing facilities and reverse engineering allow us to provide repaired network switches against the highest specs and quality gates with the lowest waste.

Our team can cover the repair of over 800 different part numbers, for multiple brands, a number which is always growing. While we are specialised in Dell Switches, we also covers repair of Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Brocade, Mellanox, Celestica, Aruba and more.
